La quinta edición del Congreso Interdisciplinario Intersecciones 2025, titulada Hacia una habitabilidad planetaria, busca abrir un debate interdisciplinario sobre las bases teóricas y prácticas necesarias para imaginar y proyectar futuros más habitables. Concebido como una plataforma desde el Sur Global, este encuentro internacional explorará enfoques y soluciones que integren la regeneración de ecosistemas, la justicia social y la cohesión comunitaria en la construcción de ciudades, territorios y entornos sostenibles. ​

The fifth edition of the Interdisciplinary Congress Intersections 2025, entitled Towards a Planetary Habitability, seeks to open an interdisciplinary debate on the theoretical and practical bases necessary to imagine and project more habitable futures. Conceived as a platform from the Global South, this international meeting will explore approaches and solutions that integrate ecosystem regeneration, social justice and community cohesion in the construction of sustainable cities, territories and environments.

En esta edición de Intersecciones se recibirán drafts/ponencias en inglés y contaremos con apoyo para los expositores en inglés, pero el congreso es en español.

HACIA UNA HABITABILIDAD PLANETARIA
El congreso se realizará en colaboración con la iniciativa Planetary Design, que, mediante workshops e intervenciones prácticas, busca definir nuevas coordenadas y principios para fundamentar una habitabilidad planetaria sostenible. Como resultado de este trabajo, se formalizará la firma del Compromiso Santiago 2025.
TOWARDS PLANETARY HABITABILITY
The congress will be held in collaboration with the Planetary Design initiative, which, through workshops and practical interventions, seeks to define new coordinates and principles on which to base a sustainable planetary habitability. As a result of this work, the signing of the Santiago 2025 Commitment will be formalized.
CONVOCATORIA
La crisis de habitabilidad planetaria se presenta como uno de los desafíos más relevantes de nuestro tiempo, exigiendo una reconfiguración profunda de las relaciones entre los humanos, los ecosistemas y las tecnologías para garantizar la sostenibilidad de la vida en la Tierra. Esta crisis emerge como resultado de la convergencia de múltiples desafíos profundamente interconectados, que incluyen la desigualdad social, el cambio climático, la automatización, la crisis democrática y el aumento de las brechas económicas, entre otros.
Estos retos no pueden ser comprendidos como eventos aislados, ya que constituyen síntomas de un problema estructural más amplio: la forma en que hemos intervenido y habitado el planeta. Repensar estas prácticas se convierte en una tarea ineludible. No es viable abordar estas problemáticas y crisis con las mismas lógicas que las generaron; en su lugar, se hace urgente imaginar y emprender alternativas para construir, diseñar y planificar en un mundo marcado por el daño ambiental, social y político.
The crisis of planetary habitability presents itself as one of the most relevant challenges of our time, demanding a profound reconfiguration of the relationships between humans, ecosystems and technologies to ensure the sustainability of life on Earth. This crisis emerges as a result of the convergence of multiple, deeply interconnected challenges, including social inequality, climate change, automation, democratic crisis and widening economic gaps, among others.

These challenges cannot be understood as isolated events, as they are symptoms of a broader structural problem: the way we have intervened and inhabited the planet. Rethinking these practices becomes an unavoidable task. It is not viable to address these problems and crises with the same logics that generated them; instead, it is urgent to imagine and undertake alternatives to build, design and plan in a world marked by environmental, social and political damage.

This edition of the Intersections Congress will open space for multiple formats of research, creation and projects that explore how architecture, design and urbanism-and their confluences-can contribute to understand, make visible and transform the realities in dispute.
